To put in context peace is not really a state. My observation is that peace is at best a temporal perspective based on the achievement of a set of goal(s) that satisfy the stakeholder(s). In general it has been downgraded to a greeting.
One day my father did something he knew my brothers and I did not like. Seeing my brother approach him he greeted him with, as-salamu alaikum assalaam meaning peace be with you, he hoped to cut the conversation or at least diffuse it. According to tradition and teaching on social conduct, my brother would have to return an equal or greater greeting.
Peace is freedom from disturbance, disquiet, oppression, and order through agreement, harmony and quiet. This blog is undoubtedly one of the toughest to write since I started. I had to empty myself of a lot of preconceived notions to be impartial.
I presented the view of colonisation and I explained the concepts of displacement, motherland, memory and mass. These are not the words generally associated with Israel but it is used in terms of colonisation outside of Israel. In fact when it comes to the Middle East (ME) the following comments are heard:
- the land's real name is Palestine
- the Arabs were there first
- the occupation is the problem
- peace is possible with two states as a solution

We must work on signing a full peace agreement with Israel. Not for the love of Israel. The truth is that this will be a temporary agreement without our knowledge. This agreement will lead us to save what is left of Syria and to rise until we become a strong state with sovereignty. And when time comes, we will surprise them and force on Israel negotiations on the issue of Arab Golan lands. These negotiations will be based on the principle of power and not out of weakness. If they do not return our lands to us, we, for our part, will declare war on them by surprise without them knowing until the release of the last cultivator from our homeland. On the other hand, at the moment there is nothing to talk about war, it does not make sense as long as the Syrian people live in poverty these days. The Syrian army must also maintain the borders of the homeland without attacking another country at this time.
Does this sound strange to you? This was recent. To get a better understanding of how agreements are dealt with in the Middle East you can click here. Now for the past. In 1921 a delegation of Palestinians went to London to stop the implementation of the Balfour Declaration. The Mayor of Haifa, Hasan Shukri wrote the British government to oppose the delegation:
We are certain that without Jewish immigration and financial assistance there will be no future development of our country as may be judged from the fact that the towns inhabited in part by Jews such as Jerusalem, Jaffa, Haifa, and Tiberias are making steady progress while Nablus, Acre, and Nazareth where no Jews reside are steadily declining.
STRATEGY
Anything sound crazy as yet? It has a lot of crazy when it comes to the ME. Once again I ask is the goal really peace with Israel? From the actions that are consistent throughout history I am convinced it is not. I think actions are more important than words. The use of agreements is only one Israel-Palestine problem.
Interpretation of Peace
I believe that the interpretation of peace using the intransitive verb to be obsolete is being applied. Literally to make obsolete not just to quieten. Here is a very telling statement made by the Zuheir Mohsen, Palestinian leader of the pro Syria As-Sai'qa of the Palestine Liberation Organisation (1971-79):
The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct Palestinian people to oppose Zionism.
Hatred for the Jews has always been a unifying factor. However, Z. Mohsen spoke about an identity. To break it down in case you missed it:
- the Palestinian state is a cloak for what they really want to achieve
- the Palestinian is a made up identity using Jordanians, Syrians and Lebanese people
- national interests is not just Palestinian, other nations are involved and part of the plot to reap the benefits for their national interests even bragging rights
- the plot is to oppose Zionism, it is not about the land
He was not the only person who felt that way. His inspiration came from Yasser Arafat who spoke about this. This is the Strategy of Stages.

It is important to point out that the Palestine Liberation Organisation was at one point or another labeled a terrorist group. In fact although Arafat had been born in Cairo, and served in varying capacities there, he was put out by then President Nasser. Same as Hamas. Yet, Israel is expected to make agreements with such characters and trust them to keep it.
That same Mr. Arafat was in cohorts with the mastermind of the Ma'alot atrocity, Mamduh Nawfal. He was in company with him when he returned to Gaza in 1994. In 1996 Arafat gave a speech in Stockholm;
We plan to eliminate the State of Israel and establish a purely Palestinian state. We will make life unbearable for Jews by psychological warfare and population explosion. … We Palestinians will take over everything, including all of Jerusalem
Statements made since the 1970s to now are consistent. Actions to fulfil these statements are consistent. This intention is still very relevant today. Recently a Fatah official, Abbas Zaki said the goal is to destroy Israel but you can't say it to the world.

Israel the Unifying Factor for Palestine
Z. Mohsen spoke about Arab unity. It is relevant to this day as a basis for attitudes and dealings in the ME against Israel. In May 2021, there was incitement by Iran for Hamas in Gaza to start a war. A whole war! It was to take advantage of the anger the Palestinians felt towards Mahmoud Abbas who was in power for about twelve years as the President of the State of Palestine and of the Palestinian National Authority.
Abbas had called an election and when he realised that Hamas was more popular in Palestine and could win, he canceled it saying that until they took back Jerusalem they could not have an election. The people were united with one cause. After the war it was back to campaigning. What they could not achieve in more than 40 years they had to achieve to have an election.
Israel the Unifying Factor for the Middle East
Palestine is not one entity, it is Arab and it is ME. Activities concerning Palestine are not individual nor are activities by other nations completely independent of the Palestine cause. Everyone has their own agendas but religion binds them.
Iran has been able to move into other countries e.g. Syria, Lebanon and Iraq. They are not Arabs but the goal is to punish all those who killed Iran's Major General and Commander for Al-Quds Force, Qassem Soleimani and to establish regional dominance by taking over Israel. Turkey is supportive of this agenda. Already I have listed four countries whose leaders support Iran.
Extremism
Israel is the only Jewish state in the world. It is the only democracy in the ME. It exercises a fair elections. Yet Israel has to go to a table with others who do not uphold these values. While the practise of democracy are guiding principles for Israel, it is not for extremist governments.
By extremist I mean governments that appear to be democratic but have false elections and support terrorism under the disguise of religion. It would be Yasser Arafat all over again.
Elections were held in Iran and Syria recently. In Iran they had to beg voters to come out. Voters took to social media and said they wanted no part of it. They already knew that the Ayatollah's elect known as the butcher would win.
In Syria the army voted sometimes seven or four times and get this, they used their own blood. That's right folks it was not ink. Bashan Al-Assad won by 95.1%. Clearly there is no opposition. Until this type of regime ends, the madness will not stop, chaos will continue.
The egos of these kinds of leaders will not genuinely put the people's well being first. It is easy for them to sacrifice lives to the cause of destroying Israel. They will do this to unite their warring factions and Israel will be the spoils that they all dream of partaking in.
In comparison efforts to make peace, I look at Mohammad Anwar el-Sadat, assassinated President of Egypt. After waging war with Syria against Israel, Anwar el-Sadat wanted peace and achieved it. In 1977 he negotiated peace with Israel.
After the 1973 war against Israel he decided that this would be a good strategy particularly as he wanted to maintain an advantage over the Suez Canal. Israel did prove to be a force to reckon with in the war and he knew it would be better to have an arrangement of sorts with them.
RECONCILIATION

Too Many Agendas
- there are many factions within Palestine and Gaza that makes it disproportionate against Israel
- reconciliation usually faces off with the attitude that Israel is the occupier and the two states option is turned away
- the agreements are not binding due to the beliefs in Islam
- it becomes even more disproportionate when other Muslim nations who have no Palestine claim get involved e.g. Iran through Hezbollah and Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps

The fight has gone into almost every nation on planet earth. It is being fought in stages already. Wiping out Israel is to establish dominance. It is very clear. Otherwise there would be no jihad with immigration.
it is common knowledge that Palestine is nothing but Southern Syria
We plan to eliminate the State of Israel and establish a purely Palestinian state. We will make life unbearable for Jews by psychological warfare and population explosion. … We Palestinians will take over everything, including all of Jerusalem.
